Dorit Kemsley is breaking down how much of a hold PK Kemsley’s former sobriety sponsor had on their relationship — and how it impacted her trip to Oceanside.
“A couple of months into our separation, PK felt that [the sponsor] overstepped,” Dorit, 48, shared during the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills: After Show on Tuesday, January 28. “I’m dishing it all out but that’s what I’m here to do.”
Dorit explained to costar Bozoma Saint John that the “overstep” occurred while the RHOBH women were on their trip to Oceanside, which was shown earlier this season. During the trip, abruptly blew up at Sutton Stracke during a van ride which caused a fracture in their already-tenuous friendship. It appears that there was even more going on behind-the-scenes.
“You remember in the van? When I was very very [angry],” Dorit continued. “I’m away from my children and PK was out of town and his sponsor was getting involved. He was unaware that he’d gotten involved and was very upset about it. He decided to change sponsors. Kept him as a friend but changed sponsors.”

During the RHOBH episode which premiered on Tuesday, Dorit revealed during her confessional that PK’s former sobriety sponsor was present for — and perhaps the catalyst of — their conversation about separating.

“The day PK and I decided to separate was him, his sponsor, and myself in our backyard — and his sponsor was doing the talking,” she said. “His sponsor’s the one who suggested that we take some time apart and separate. I was so taken aback, I didn’t ask whether this was PK’s idea or whether the sponsor actually thought it was a good idea and PK was just going along with it. I still don’t know.”
Dorit and PK announced in a May 2024 social media statement that they decided to separate after nine years of marriage. Their split has been a focal point of RHOBH season 14, which continues to air new episodes weekly.

“I felt totally blindsided,” Dorit said during the After Show. “[His sponsor] sort of said it like, ‘I think that the best thing for you guys is to take some time apart.’ … He was a friend first.”

Dorit explained that the conversation happened in the “new stages” of PK’s sobriety but it was not the first time the idea of a separation came up. (PK announced in September 2024 that he had been sober for nine months.)
At first, the idea of a separation was “thrown around so easily and so quickly that it lost its strength.” But this time it was different.
“It would have been nice to be included in the decision,” Dorit added.
