Is anxiety causing you to lose sleep? You may be constantly worried, haunted by fears and feeling overwhelmed. Perhaps you are lying awake at night with the worst-case scenario playing over and over in your mind. This can leave you feeling exhausted and hopeless. If that is you, stress and anxiety have taken over your life!
You might be thinking: “If only I could calm down! Get a good night’s sleep! Stop chaotic thoughts. Stop obsessing over fears and what ifs. If I could relax and release all my anxiety everything would be okay!”
Managing Anxiety Is Possible!
Here’s the good news. You can relax and release anxiety. Managing anxiety really is possible. It is possible to calm your fears and worry and live a calmer, anxiety-free life.
How do I know? I was a very anxious person too.
There was a time in my life when I couldn’t eat or sleep. I was a total mess. Anxiety took over my life. In constant turmoil, my mind was obsessed with “what ifs,” scary thoughts, and fears. I felt desperate and out of control. My doctor even prescribed Xanax to help me calm down and function better.
This experience prompted a life-changing decision. One day, I finally said, “I’m not living like this anymore!” I found help to understand and control my anxiety. I learned what causes anxiety and worry along with techniques how to release them, and I practiced using those techniques in my daily life so I could stay calm no matter what. I became anxiety-free.
Then, I became an Anxiety Coach because I wanted to help other women become free of anxiety. This was a natural step for me. I had been a university professor and a pastor and that was rewarding but helping women overcome worry and anxiety has become my real passion. I love helping women find freedom from anxiety – that’s my mission.
Freedom from Anxiety Is Possible for You Too!
I have worked with many women who were having anxiety, and I’ve helped them calm down. If they can do it, you can too!
Here are 3 steps you can take to become free of anxiety.
STEP 1: Identify the FEARS Triggering Your Anxiety
Naming your fears is challenging but worth the effort. When you know what’s causing your anxiety you can make changes to help reduce it. Reflecting on questions like these can help you identify your underlying fears.
- What is it, really, that is causing my fearful thoughts?
- What assumptions am I making?
- What worst case scenario am I telling myself?
- How am I judging and criticizing myself?
Discovering your fears means focusing on your thoughts. It means being intentional and honest. Pinpointing the roots of your anxiety sets the stage for the next two steps.
STEP 2: Change NEGATIVE Thoughts to POSITIVE Ones
Purposely shift old, negative thoughts to new, positive ones. Make it a habit to notice and catch negative, fearful thoughts as they show up in your mind. Then intentionally replace them with positive thoughts. Do this over and over again.
This paves the way for a radical change in thinking patterns. This change is necessary to release anxiety. Try it out! As you practice you will begin to experience less overwhelm and out-of-control thinking.
Consider this… You don’t have to believe everything your mind tells you.
STEP 3: Make It a HABIT to Change Your Thoughts
Keep changing negative thoughts to positive ones until it becomes automatic for you. Use tools daily to reduce anxious thoughts and feelings. Be aware of the new thinking patterns you are creating. Watch how guilt and fear-producing thoughts are turning around and helping you feel better. Hope and self-confidence will increase every time you replace anxious thoughts whenever they arise.
You can try things like a) asking yourself: “Who do I want to be in this moment?” b) speaking aloud or writing daily affirmations, and c) giving yourself small rewards for staying with it. Remember: You always have a choice!
This is a practice to create new habits of thinking. You need to keep doing it to become anxiety-free.
