Cooking isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.
And as actress Joey King revealed, cooking can prove to be a dangerous task.
On Tuesday, January 28, the A Family Affair actress took to Instagram to share photos of the injuries she sustained to her face, chin, and neck while in the kitchen “a few days ago.”
The four images revealed a good amount of burns and subsequent blistering.
While King appears to be okay as she recovers and cares for the burns to her face, she revealed that the burns were the result of hot oil.

“I burned myself a few days ago by throwing shallots into a pan of hot oil,” she wrote alongside the images.
“I called my mom to tell her and she says, ‘see that’s why I hate cooking,” King continued alongside the skull and crossbones emoji.
Earlier this month, King made headlines after she bleached her eyebrows for W magazine’s Annual Best Performances Party in Los Angeles.
On TikTok she said her mom also had a blunt response to her new look telling her daughter, “I just can’t look at you. You look so weird.”
“Guys, I know I look weird. That’s the point,” she continued in the TikTok video. “I was like, ‘Mom, that’s the point. The point is that I’m trying something different. I’m gonna dye them back but just let me have this.’”
King said she loved the new look, as did singer Noah Cyrus as she confirmed in the comments.
The photos she shared of her burns, however, show that King has since abandoned her new look and already dyed her brows back to their original color.
According to the American Academy of Dermatology Association, “although first-degree burns are not as serious as higher-degree burns, they can hurt quite a bit and can leave a scar if not properly treated.”
Dermatologist recommend that if one does sustain a first-degree burn while cooking at home, that cool water should be applied to the burn immediately and petroleum jelly should be applied to the burns two to three times a day.
And if a blister forms, do not pop the blister but keep it clean with a nonstick, sterile bandage and avoid sun exposure, if possible.
